The Upper Campaspe Landcare Network (UCLN) is excited to announce the upcoming second Platypus Citizen Science Sampling Day. The event provides members of the community with the special opportunity of becoming “Citizen Scientists” for a morning!

The event takes place on Tuesday 24th September 2019 (details below).

This important project contributes to the better understanding of platypus (and blackfish) populations across the Campaspe River and Coliban River catchments. This information can then be used by the communities to better protect the environment along local streams.

The Platypus project is a partnership between UCLN and Melbourne-based scientific research and environmental company EnviroDNA. Senior ecologist and platypus expert Dr Josh Griffiths from EnviroDNA who leads the project and provides the technical know-how. Staff from Coliban Water and the North Central Catchment Management Authority (NCCMA) are key partners.

Members of the public are encouraged to register their interest in participating for this important Citizen Science event. It’s on Tuesday 24th September 2019, between 9am and 2pm. Please meet at the Kyneton Mineral Springs Picnic Area, Burton Avenue, Kyneton.
