Round Two – Council Community Grants Program opening soon

Applications are now open for Council’s Community Grants Program. Small Grants of up to $3,000 and Partnership grants up to $10,000 are available to incorporated and not-for-profit community groups and organisations to support local community-based projects and initiatives that align with Council objectives.

The Community Grants Program opens on Monday 20 July 2020 and will close on Monday 10 August 2020 at 4:00pm.For more information on the Community Grants Program and to view the Guidelines please go to https://www.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/CommunityGrants.

JUNIOR LANDCARER – July Edition

2020 VICTORIAN JUNIOR LANDCARE AND BIODIVERSITY GRANT APPLY NOW – APPLICATIONS CLOSE 31 JULY

Even with Victorian schools physically closed at the moment, we encourage applications for a Victorian Junior Landcare and Biodiversity Grant. The grants support biodiversity-focused education activities, some of which can be done virtually, or from student’s homes if necessary.

The Victorian Government is providing over $450,000 in funding for these fantastic grants that are open to Victorian schools, childcare centres, Scouts, Girl Guides and youth groups.

Applications for 2020 Victorian Junior Landcare and Biodiversity Grants of up to $5,000 each are open until 31 July 2020.

LANDCARE WEEK FOR KIDS

Landcare Week is coming up and Junior Landcare groups can access the branded campaign templates on the Landcare Australia website to promote their activities. Included in the campaign pack are graphics for social media. Some groups may not be hosting events this year due to COVID-19, but that should not stop you from promoting your projects and thanking volunteers for their support. Get ready to share your Landcare Week story on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn using the hashtag #LandcareWeek.

Explore three new Learning Activities about creating a frog friendly habitat – research, design and construction.

IMPROVING AN ECOSYSTEM’S SUSTAINABILITY

A remnant of an endangered Grey Box woodland community sits within the grounds of Belair Primary School, located in South Australia’s Mount Lofty Ranges. Rokewood Scrub, became the focus of a school project funded by a Woolworths Junior Landcare Grant. Their aim was to revive and improve the quality of this habitat for as many species as possible.

To enter go to the ONLINE PORTAL and select the category you wish to enter from the drop down nomination award menu and answer a few simple questions.

If you are time poor, but want to recognise someone use the online REFERRAL SYSTEM. It takes about two minutes to complete the form and the team at VRACA does the rest! They will get in contact with your nominee and have them complete the questions.

Prizes include $2,000 into an account in the winners name from Bank of Melbourne or air time packages on PRIME7 for category winners. 

One of the nine category winners will be named the “Bank of Melbourne Regional Achiever of the Year” and will receive an additional $2,000 and state trophy.
