SUMMARY:Sunday 22 March Working Bee @ Ruby McKenzie Reserve
DESCRIPTION:Woodend Landcare is hosting a working bee from 9am until 12pm on Sunday 22nd of March.  \nThe working bee will be held in the vicinity of Ruby Mckenzie Reserve in Tennyson Street\, Woodend. Participants are asked to assemble in the reserve alongside the Landcare blue tool trailer. Briefing for tasks will commence at 9am so organisers request that you arrive a bit before then. \nTasks include whipper snipping around plant guards\, woody weed control and the removal of a large seedling plum tree. A trailer would be handy if someone has one available. Some of the work areas are fairly rough so wear full length clothing\, garden gloves\, eye protection\, sun protection and sturdy footwear and please bring secateurs if you own a pair. \nNewcomers are very welcome and morning tea will be provided. \nPast plantings and weed control by Landcare have really transformed the Black Gum habitat in this area so come along and help us continually improve this site. DESCRIPTION:In a local war against waste initiative\, the Riddells Creek Neighbourhood House is hosting an inaugural Zero Waste Day on Sunday 15 March. \nThe Zero Waste Day incorporates the annual Riddells Creek Community Garage Sale (starting at 8am)\, in addition to a range of workshops and talks\, clothes and book swaps\, film screenings\, stalls and more. \nIn an exciting development\, the Riddells Creek Men’s Shed will run a repair cafe from 11.30am to 3.30pm so residents can have their items fixed for free in a bid to reduce waste. \nThe workshops will cover a range of topics\, including efficient house design\, learning how to make vegan and beeswax food wraps\, recycling tips\, kombucha making and moving to a plastic free home. There is something for everyone. \nIf you are coming along\, here’s how to prepare. \n\nRegister ASAP on TryBooking or at the House to hold a garage sale on the day.\nRegister on TryBooking to attend one of the workshops or talks.\nSort through your unwanted and unused good quality clothing/shoes/jewellery and drop off at the House from Monday 2 March.\nBring along your household items that need fixing.\nSort through your unwanted books and deliver to the Uniting Church on Wednesday from 9.30am to 2pm.\nBring your empty and clean containers to fill up your personal care and cleaning items at Roving Refills.\nBring other items that can be recycled: bread tags\, ring pulls\, metal bottle tops\, coffee pods\, batteries\, old printers and more.\n\nFood and drinks with an emphasis on reducing\, reusing and recycling\, will be available throughout the day. \nGarage sale maps will be available for $5 from 8 am at the Neighbourhood House or at Poulton’s Garage (just across the road).
